Talk about chasing after...
It was a hot summer night on June 13th. Five of my gfs including me decided to go to a gay club for some good dancing music. Not expecting to meet the love of my life but simply a casual night of excitement. I was pretty wasted but managed to pick her out from the crowd. With the help of my gfs, they were able to yank her off the dance floor from her friends and into my hands. Alcohol definitely contributed to our heated make out session in a corner (I think) for us. I remembered asking her to go home with me that night but she refused and took off left me stood outside as I watched her disappeared out of my sight. I didn’t get her number but thankfully, one of my gfs took pictures of us so I spent the next few nights out and about Capitol Hill in hope of finding her…just to apologize for my action. I even posted on the local newspaper, looking for her. I know…you must think I am a lunatic. The 3rd night I saw her with her friends at a local bar but was too nervous to even talk to her, my friend had to do the initiating conversation for us and we talked for less than 3 minutes. We exchanged number but I never called her. She called me few days later, we talked briefly and I found out that she has a 6yrs old daughter. Finally we decided to go on a date. I was so nervous while waiting for her to come pick me up. We went to a local dessert place, talked for couple hours, and even took a quick walk on Broadway. I didn’t want the night to end but it did. She dropped me off and when I leaned over to hug her…I felt this adrenaline rush and that was it for me. I knew then that she’s the one. She has to be!! She invited me out to watch the opening night of Harry Potter with her friends at midnight few days later. The whole entire movie we were holding hands and that adrenaline rush I felt once again. For the next few months, we went out couple more times, she no show few times, but because she was in school that is 5 hours away and every time she came back in town, she wanted to meet up and managed to stood me up at the same time. I decided that we are not going to have any sort of internet “connection” which means no emails, no facebook…etc. Our communication is letters, phone calls, and text. I would write her letters and waited for her letter but it took the one that I told her I was done with “the waiting, the uncertainty, the no time, and the lame game that she was doing” letter for her to write me back. I was touch and at least knew that she does care. We talked on the phone almost every night after that. It became a routine for me but I never picked up the phone to call her for some odd reasons but perhaps I always felt like I was interfering in her life. After 5 months of knowing her, I suggested visiting her but she would always find excuses for me not to visit. One drunken night, I asked her again and just wanted her to give me a yes or no answer. Her response was you will be bore, and then she finally said sure if you want to. I woke up the next day still drunk and drove 5 hours to see her. I didn’t plan on spending the night but she suggested that I should go home the next day. I stayed. We didn’t really do anything but she made me watched a subtitle gay foreign language movie while she was studying. We kissed and cuddled for a little while until her daughter, Belle came out of the room and she left to go sleep with her. The feeling was just indescribable. I left the next morning...feeling satisfied. I knew that she had a busy schedule but didn’t realize how busy and hectic it was for her. I empathized and understood her more of her circumstances and how she didn’t want a relationship. I got back to town and wrote her another letter telling her I wouldn’t ask any of her time anymore and that she's a great Mom. She did write me a letter as well but she didn’t send it but read it to me instead. It was a letter about how she couldn’t offer me what I need. I thought that was funny because how did she know what I need? We continued with our phone conversation. My feeling for her didn’t change after that visit…if anything it was only stronger but I didn’t tell her that. One day out of the blue, she texted me and said she misses me. I was out with friends and I remembered jumping like a little kid that just got her favorite toy. She came back in town for the holiday and I asked her to stay with me. She said yes and so we spent the holiday together. We’ve been a couple since and until now, even a simple hug from her still gives me the adrenaline rush. I don’t know how to describe this powerful love feeling but I wish everyone will have the chance to experience it. Who would have thought one crazy summer night for me can lead to a magical ending for us? I’m planning on spending the rest of my life with her.
